Let the Holidays begin!

How better to celebrate the upcoming holiday than by donning a festive vintage frock? Well I have just begun listing my holiday line and wanted to give all of my faithful readers a sample:

I especially love this dress because in many ways it reminds me of Princess Diana's "Dress for Scottish Dancing" (click on link to read the eVintage Village Village blog about this dress).

Cigarette Girl

I just listed these two incredible vintage black mini dresses in my Etsy store. One from the 1980s, one from the 1960s and both remind me of a "Cigarette Girl" or "Candy Girl" from the Golden Era of Hollywood. Below are pictures and links to these great items:

I thought these would be fun Cigarette Girl costumes or just fun for a special night out! As luck would have it I somehow stumbled onto these incredible hats by Topsy Turvy Design (also an Etsy seller). This hat would be the perfect accoutrement to either or both of these dresses:

Check back in with us as I be bringing you some more great costume ideas over the next few weeks!

So Long For Now,

Etsy has vintage too!

I'v been selling on Ebay for the past 7 years and for a while they were the only game in town. With the exorbitant listing fees and lack of respect from the powers that be, many vintage sellers have packed up shop and moved elsewhere. One of the more recent success stories for the vintage clothing seller is the Etsy story. According the about page on Etsy:

"Etsy is an online marketplace for buying & selling all things handmade. Our mission is to enable people to make a living making things, and to reconnect makers with buyers. Our vision is to build a new economy and present a better choice"

Well the good news for vintage lovers is that Etsy has opened the door to selling "vintage goods" this includes not only vintage clothing but any item tha falls within that category such as household items.

The long and short of it is this, since I have joined Etsy I have found it to be a more user friendly venue than that of Ebay. While I still have my Ebay account open, I have transitioned my inventory totally to Etsy and my freestanding website.
The following are current items I have listed on Etsy:
1950s FULL SWEEP pleated Lucy skirt S
$28.00
1950s Rhoda Lee floral blouse NWT 50s sz 34
$25.00
1940s to early 50s SHEER ivory lace fitted blouse ruffle Pin-Up 50s
$18.00
The following items are also available from other sellers on Etsy:
Cutest 50s Two Piece Floral Summer Top Pencil Skirt Small

RETRO COOL Vintage 60s Hawaiian Shirt Large L

Vintage 50s Authentic poodle skirt xs Cream Felt

The other advantage for buyers is that pricing seems to be a lot more reasonable. So if you have not had an opportunity to check out vintage on Etsy, you are definitely missing out on some great shopping opportunities. I have not even touched on the incredible handmade items. So just to wet your appetite I will leave you with some of the great handmade items available now on Etsy:

And so I hope I have given some food for thought, if not some great eye candy!

Ode to Christian Dior

Original Christian Dior "New Look"

Ode to Christian Dior: Today i woke up thinking about "The New Look" of Christian Dior which
was unveiled in his 1947 collection. I stumbled on this Gaultier jacket which imediatly reminded me of one of Dior's New Look jackets. It must have been a nocturnal musing that caused me to wake up and go to my collection and put this outfit together. I was obsessed and so here it is soon to be available for purchase. For now lets just like to look at it.

Bring It Back Vintage "New Look" interpretation
